SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
65 ILCS 5/7-4-4   from Ch. 24, par. 7-4-4

    Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. In a Section that grants jurisdiction to municipalities over certain bodies of water within the corporate limits of the municipality and up to three miles beyond the corporate limits, provides that nothing in the Section shall be construed to authorize a municipality to exercise zoning power or otherwise restrict the use of private property outside of the corporate limits of the municipality.

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by
5 changing Section 7-4-4 as follows:
 
6     (65 ILCS 5/7-4-4)  (from Ch. 24, par. 7-4-4)
7     Sec. 7-4-4. The corporate authorities in all
8 municipalities have jurisdiction over all waters within or
9 bordering upon the municipality, to the extent of 3 miles
10 beyond the corporate limits, but not beyond the limits of the
11 State. Nothing in this Section shall be construed to authorize
12 a municipality to exercise zoning power or otherwise restrict
13 the use of private property outside of the corporate limits of
14 the municipality.

16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
