    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the distribution of documents designed to simulate checks.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5 Practices Act is amended by changing Section 2X as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 505/2X)  (from Ch. 121 1/2, par. 262X)
7     Sec. 2X. It is an unlawful practice for any person to
8 promote or advertise any business, product or interest in
9 property by means of distributing documents designed to
10 simulate checks or other negotiable instruments unless such
11 instrument has printed upon both its front and and back, the
12 following statement: "This is not a Check". However, it is not
13 an unlawful practice under this Section for a person to
14 distribute for commercial purposes a sample or specimen of a
15 check or other instrument which is used to solicit orders for
16 the sale of that instrument and which is clearly marked as a
17 non-negotiable sample or specimen.
