Amends the Department of State Police Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of State Police to establish and administer, as a pilot program in 10 zip codes within the State, an automated wellness-check system. Provides that, under the system, senior citizens and individuals with a disability or illness may register with the Department to receive automated calls at an agreed-upon time and, if the dispatcher is unable to reach the registered person by telephone after 3 attempts in a 5-minute span, then a State or local law-enforcement officer will be sent to the person's home to check on his or her welfare. Effective immediately.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Department of State Police Law of the

| Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section |

| 2605-510 as follows:

| Sec. 2605-510. Automated wellness-check system. The |
| 9 |
| Department shall establish and administer, as a pilot program |
| 10 |
| in 10 zip codes within the State, an automated wellness-check |
| 11 |
| system. Under the system, senior citizens and individuals with |
| 12 |
| a disability or illness may register with the Department to |
| 13 |
| receive automated calls at an agreed-upon time. If the |
| 14 |
| dispatcher is unable to reach the registered person by |
| 15 |
| telephone after 3 attempts in a 5-minute span, then a State or |
| 16 |
| local law-enforcement officer will be sent to the person's home |
| 17 |

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |

| becoming law.
