SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Cheryl Axley has honorably represented the 33rd
3 State Senate District of Illinois; and
 
4     WHEREAS, She is a strong voice on both the Senate
5 Transportation and Financial Institutions Committees, as well
6 as serving as Republican Spokesperson for the Local Government
7 Committee; and
 
8     WHEREAS, As a longtime resident of Mount Prospect she's
9 maintained a private law practice concentrating in estate
10 planning, probate, and real estate law since 1985; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She is a member of the Northwest Suburban Bar
12 Association; Illinois State Bar Association, Cook County Bar
13 Association, Illinois Real Estate Lawyers Association, and has
14 been bestowed the high honor of being admitted to the U.S.
15 Supreme Court Bar; and
 
16     WHEREAS, She is a mother of three teenage children who has
17 fought to protect teens while driving; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She is a member of the Northwest Suburban Alliance
19 on Domestic Violence, Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists,
20 Mother's Against Drunk Driving, and The Secretary of State's
21 Teen Driver Task Force; and
 
22     WHEREAS, She is also a member and supporter of numerous
23 local Chambers of Commerce, St. Raymond's Catholic Church, the
24 Mount Prospect Lion's Club, and the Honorary Legislative
25 Committee for the Hope Foundation for Autism and Epilepsy; and
 
26     WHEREAS, She served honorably as Clerk of Elk Grove
27 Township for more than 10 years; and

1     WHEREAS, She earned a Juris Doctor degree from The John
2 Marshall Law School in Chicago; and
 
3     WHEREAS, She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The
4 University of Illinois, Champaign; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She has worked closely with local mayors and
6 public officials for the betterment of the 33rd District; and
 
7     WHEREAS, She supports local control for area schools,
8 served as a trustee to local schools, and believes there should
9 be a more equitable distribution of state education dollars in
10 Illinois; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She believes the state should exercise fiscal
12 restraint and make every effort to spend taxpayers' dollars
13 wisely; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Cheryl is and will stay committed to meaningful
15 health care reform that makes quality health care more
16 accessible and affordable to those in need; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
18 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Cheryl
19 Axley for her dedicated service as she leaves the Illinois
20 Senate and wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it
21 further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this preamble and
23 resolution be presented to Cheryl with our thanks for a job
24 well done.
