SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Sandra Breden of Bethalto who passed away
4 on December 29, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born on November 21, 1953, in Eldorado to
6 Carroll and Louise (Allen) Whaley; she married Robert F. "Bob"
7 Breden on September 23, 1972; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Sandra Breden graduated from the University of
9 North Dakota with a Bachelor's degree in accounting; she
10 retired from Lewis and Clark Community College (LCCC) as the
11 chief financial officer, after serving for 29 years; and
 
12     WHEREAS, She began her career at LCCC in 1978 in the
13 Accounting Department; she was promoted to assistant director
14 of accounting services in 1994; in 1997 she was named the
15 director of accounting/controller; and in 2001 she became the
16 chief financial officer of the college; and
 
17     WHEREAS, While working at LCCC, she was responsible for the
18 financial oversight of the construction of the Ringhausen Music
19 Building, the Hanks Dental Clinic, the Olin Science Building,
20 the Commons, the Watson Math Building, the Macoupin County
21 Community Education Center in Carlinville, and the first phases
22 of the N.O. Nelson Campus in Edwardsville; she was responsible
23 for an annual operating budget of $23 million; and she also
24 served as the financial liaison with the Illinois Community
25 College Board and several federal agencies; and
 
26     WHEREAS, Sandra Breden was a loving wife, mother, and
27 grandmother, known for her beautiful smile who enjoyed nothing
28 more than spending time with her family; and
 
29     WHEREAS, Sandra Breden was a member of the First Baptist

1 Church of Bethalto; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Sandra Breden is survived by her husband, Robert;
3 her children, JoAnne Earnhart and her husband, Steve, Jeremy
4 Breden and his girlfriend, Brandi Bertels, and Jenny Breden and
5 her fiance, Willie Harshbarger; her grandchildren, Hayley,
6 Brooklyn and Jessa Earnhart; her brother and his wife, Howard
7 and Roni Whaley; her sisters and their husbands, Deloris and
8 Tom Bloodworth, Phyllis and Jim Charlton, and Roberta and Steve
9 Stanford; her many nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law,
10 Millie Breden; she was preceded in death by her parents,
11 Carroll and Louise Whaley and her father-in-law, Charles Breden
12 Sr.; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend to her family
15 and friends our sincere condolences at the passing of Sandra
16 Breden; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Sandra Breden.
