SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of James E.
4 Baumhart of Palos Heights, who passed away on November 12,
5 2006; and
 
6     WHEREAS, James Baumhart was born on New Year's Day, January
7 1, 1940, in St. Benedict Parish on the North Side of Chicago,
8 Illinois; he was the youngest child of a butcher and a
9 homemaker; and
 
10     WHEREAS, James Baumhart was a 1957 graduate of DePaul
11 Academy, attended Xavier University in Ohio, and received his
12 Bachelor's degree in business from Loyola University; and
 
13     WHEREAS, James Baumhart began his career with the Better
14 Business Bureau in 1964, and worked his way up to executive
15 vice-president and then president; he was known for his
16 dedication to the Bureau, working to improve ethical business
17 relationships in northern Illinois and across the country; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He met his wife, Barbara, while both of them
19 worked for Bureau; they were matched together to plan an annual
20 company dinner in 1972 and fell in love, marrying on
21 Independence Day in 1974; and
 
22     WHEREAS, James Baumhart was a past president of the
23 Catholic Charities Adoptive Parents Guild, emeritus director
24 of St. Benedict High School, a former president of the Palos
25 Heights Garden Civic Association, and vice chairman of Marist
26 High School; and
 
27     WHEREAS, James Baumhart was an avid golfer and sports fan;
28 he was extremely generous; and he was actively involved in the
29 Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club; and

1     WHEREAS, James Baumhart was the devoted husband of Barbara
2 (nee Jerome); the cherished father of Peter, Charles, and Jon
3 Baumhart; the loving brother of the Reverend Raymond C.
4 Baumhart, SJ, Dorothy (late Harold) Unger, late Jerome (Judy)
5 Baumhart, and Florence (Robert) Biewald; and the fond uncle of
6 numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family and friends, the passing of James Baumhart; and be
10 it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of James Baumhart.
