SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of William
4 R. "Bud" Anderson of Batavia, who passed away on Monday, June
5 26, 2006; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born on October 22, 1915, in Batavia to
7 William and Hattie (nee Hassel) Anderson; he was united in
8 marriage to Bernice Knoll on September 22, 1939, in Batavia;
9 and
 
10     WHEREAS, He and his friend, Norm Freedlund, built the
11 Batavia Popcorn Depot in 1929 when they were still Batavia High
12 School students, and it is still in operation today; he also
13 helped his parents operate the Batavia Greenhouse for many
14 years and was employed by the Challenge Company for a time
15 before working in the garment industry in the Aurora and Geneva
16 area; he and his wife owned and operated Anderson's Restaurant
17 in Earlville from 1969 to 1974; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He and his wife called Batavia home, but at times
19 lived in Elburn, Earlville, Shabbona, and Malta in Illinois and
20 in Arkansas and California; he enjoyed hunting and woodworking
21 and was known for making custom gun stocks; he had a passion
22 and love for dogs and had trained several throughout his life;
23 and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of William R. "Bud" Anderson has been
25 deeply felt by many, especially his children, Sharon McManus,
26 Dennis (Vicky) Anderson, Debra (Joseph) Fox, Joseph (Donna)
27 Anderson, and Mimi (Steve) O'Dell; his grandchildren; his
28 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Maxine Dreymiller and Lois
29 (Jack) Lincoln; he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice;
30 his daughter, Mary Schliefer; his son, James Anderson; his
31 sister-in-law, Katherine Willwerth; and his sister, Frances

2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 William R. "Bud" Anderson, and we extend our sincere
5 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
6 him; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
9 sympathy.
