SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express
3 their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Ebert M.
4 Grimes of East Alton, Illinois, who recently passed away; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Ebert Grimes was born on May 31, 1922 in Alton; on
6 April 27, 1951 he married Mary E. Straub; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Mr. Grimes served as a staff sergeant with the
8 Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific; he
9 was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Grimes served with the East Alton Police
11 Department for 20 years, retiring with the rank of captain; he
12 then served as a security officer at Principia College in Elsah
13 for 15 years before retiring; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a member of The East Alton Police
15 Benevolent and Protection Association No. 78, the Madison
16 County Police Association, and the First Baptist Church of East
17 Alton; he enjoyed fishing and playing pinochle, and a game of
18 Mexican dominoes; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Ebert Grimes is survived by his wife, Mary; his
20 daughters, Jennifer, Angela, and Sara and her husband, Eric;
21 his son, Jeffrey and his wife, Joe Helen; his grandchildren,
22 Kandace and her partner, Brian, Nicholas and his partner,
23 Nicole, David, Shawn and his wife, Lynn, Robbie, Samantha, and
24 Tara; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Destanee, Alexandria,
25 and Kharma; his sister, Norma; and his brothers-in-law, Len and
26 his wife, Donna, and Robert; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
29 his family and friends, the death of Ebert Grimes; and be it
