SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Petty Officer Jesse
4 Lawrence Franklin Jr. of Chicago, on June 20, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on June 16, 1984, to Sheryl and Jesse
6 Franklin; as a child he enjoyed going to Vocational Bible
7 School and attending Henderson Elementary; he graduated from
8 Dunbar Vocational High School having excelled while there,
9 making the Honor Roll nearly every semester; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Following high school, he often took jobs that
11 allowed him to work closely with family members; he worked with
12 his cousin, Richard, at West Loop Auto, and with his brother,
13 Kristopher, his sister, Keyauna, and his cousin, Corey, at the
14 Spirit of Chicago; and
 
15     WHEREAS, In September of 2004, he enlisted in the United
16 States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, on the USS
17 Washington, working in the security and engineering fields; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was united in marriage to LaTiana Bryant in
19 April of 2005, with the couple expecting their first child in
20 December of 2006; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Petty Officer Jesse Lawrence
22 Franklin Jr. has been deeply felt by many, especially his
23 parents, Sheryl and Jesse Franklin Sr.; his unborn child; his
24 wife, LaTiana Franklin; his grandmother, June Brownlee; his
25 grandfather, Guy Brownlee; his step-grandfather, Barney
26 Fordham, his sisters, Keyauna (Yul) and Tyricka Franklin,
27 LaTarsha and Rekia Carothers; his brothers, Kristopher
28 Franklin, Jesse and Jeremy Carothers; his nieces, Keyhala
29 Franklin, LaTaisha, Takira, Kiara, and Jakiyah Carothers; his
30 nephews, Kristopher Franklin Jr., Tommie, Tyler, Keshawn, and

1 Joshua Carothers; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rhonda
2 and Levester Bryant Sr.; his brother-in-law, Levester Bryant
3 Jr.; his sisters-in-law, Latrice, LaRissa, and Leontyne
4 Bryant; his favorite cousins, Corey and Shardae Wilson and
5 Richard (Rakim) and Pamela Franklin; his great aunts, Mae
6 Thomas (T) and Diana Alexander; his aunts, Shelia and Shawn
7 Brownlee, Barbara, Mary, and Dorothy Franklin; his uncles,
8 Calvin Wilson, James Alexander, Sam, Calvin, Jerry, Charles,
9 and Willie Franklin; too many friends to name; and a host of
10 cousins and other relatives; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
12 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13 Petty Officer Jesse Lawrence Franklin Jr., and we extend our
14 sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
15 and loved him; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
18 sympathy.
