| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Robert A. Bassi of Downers |
4 |
| Grove on June 16, 2006; and |
5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in 1942; he was united in marriage for |
6 |
| 35 years to his wife Joanne; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, He grew up in Chicago's West Town neighborhood and |
8 |
| graduated from Cathedral High School; he moved with his family |
9 |
| to the West Englewood neighborhood, where he lived while |
10 |
| attending Loyola University; he studied English literature at |
11 |
| Loyola and moved into public relations and marketing after |
12 |
| graduation; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, He started Bassi Communications in 1986 following |
14 |
| five years as vice president of communications with the Chicago |
15 |
| Board Options Exchange; he had several major clients with Bassi |
16 |
| Communications, including McDonald's and Motorola; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, He would often express his sense of humor and wit |
18 |
| through his company; he would send out a newsletter with |
19 |
| "Random Thunks" highlighting notable quotations, goofy news, |
20 |
| and marketing trends; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, He was a gourmet cook who improvised recipes and |
22 |
| was always searching for the secrets of his mother's |
23 |
| traditional Italian cooking; and
|
24 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Robert A. Bassi has been deeply |
25 |
| felt by many, especially by his wife, Joanne; his son, Adam; |
26 |
| and his brother, Vic; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
