SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Paul M. Clark of Alton on
4 Sunday, April 9, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born April 12, 1938, in Eldorado to William
6 M. and Jewel E. (Penrod) Clark; he married the former Virginia
7 Merritt on December 27, 1958, in Herrin; he later married the
8 former Edie Lawrence on May 23, 1981; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Clark retired in 1994 from Laclede Steel after
10 35 years as an electrician; he was an active leader in the
11 labor movement for over 30 years, serving as shop steward,
12 grievance committeeman, vice president, and president of Local
13 3643 USWA from 1977 to 1980; he served as secretary of the
14 Alton-Wood River Federation of Labor and vice president of the
15 20th Congressional District Cope; he was a Democratic Precinct
16 Committeeman and was active in the political process all of his
17 adult working life, working to pass legislation in Washington,
18 D.C., and Springfield; and
 
19     WHEREAS, He was a member and elected trustee of Eagles
20 Aerie 254, Piasa Masonic Lodge 27, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree
21 Mason, and a Shriner of the Ainad Rolling Nobles three-wheeler
22 unit, entertaining crowds for 17 years, having fun, and helping
23 kids; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Paul M. Clark has been deeply felt
25 by many, especially his wife, Edie; his daughters and their
26 husbands, Paula and Dan Resavage and their two children, Fallon
27 and Ryan, and Jennifer and Minas Konstadinopulos and their two
28 children, Sofia and Georgus; his son, Scott Clark; his stepson,
29 Marc Lawrence; his sister, Elizabeth Downing; his brother,
30 William E. Clark; and his numerous nieces and nephews;
31 therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Paul M. Clark, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
4 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
