SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Francis "Frank" R. Bridge
4 of Downers Grove on Sunday, January 8, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Malden, Massachusetts, and was
6 raised in the nearby town of Medford; he attended a business
7 school in Boston and then joined the U.S. Army Air Forces in
8 World War II; he served for about three years as a member of
9 the 598th Bombardment Squadron and the 397th Bombardment Group,
10 flying numerous missions over France; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He married Mary Theresa, his wife of 57 years, in
12 1947; the couple lived in Massachusetts for a few years before
13 making their home in Chicago; they later moved to Brookfield
14 and then Downers Grove in 1967; she preceded him in death a
15 year ago; and
 
16     WHEREAS, For many years, he worked as a manager in the
17 corrugated shipping containers industry; he retired in 1987
18 from Western Kraft Corp. in Montgomery, a division of
19 Willamette Industries, after 20 years of service; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He had been an active member of St. Joseph
21 Catholic Church in Downers Grove since 1967, where he was known
22 for his volunteer work; from 1982 to 1990, he served as the
23 president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of the Joliet
24 Diocese; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Francis "Frank" R. Bridge has been
26 deeply felt by many, especially his son, Ross; his daughters,
27 Julie, Mary Ann LaJeone, Jane Paschall, and Patricia Szczurek;
28 his brother, Ronald; his sister, Ann Surette; his 11
29 grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren; therefore,
30 be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Francis "Frank" R. Bridge, and we extend our sincere
4 condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
5 him; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
