SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate learned with sadness of the
3 death of Paul Edward Toon of Lisle and Downers Grove on October
4 24, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Paul Edward Toon was born in Hinsdale in 1936 to
6 Ina and Dewey Toon; he graduated from Downers Grove High School
7 and went on to study business at Eureka College; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Toon was the proud owner of Toon Funeral Home,
9 a business established by his parents in 1929; although it
10 required him to deal with customers at one of the most
11 difficult times in their lives, he always handled his job with
12 professionalism and dignity; he built a reputation in the
13 community for honesty and trust, going to great lengths to
14 comfort and support every family in need of his services; Mr.
15 Toon also served as a mentor and role model for other funeral
16 directors, who were inspired by his skills, compassion, and
17 sensitivity; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Mr. Toon was a well-respected man in his community
19 who gave a great deal of his time to many worthy causes; he was
20 a long-time member of the Downers Grove Noon Lions Club, the
21 Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and many
22 other groups; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The loss of Mr. Toon will be deeply felt by many,
24 especially, his wife, Jerri MacLeod-Toon; his daughter, Nancy
25 Toon; his step-daughters, Bonnie Elsner and Sandy Elsner; his
26 sisters, Barbara McGowan and Betty Rowe; his
27 step-granchildren, Richard and Angela; and a multitude of other
28 relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the loss of

1 Paul Edward Toon and extend our sincere condolences to his
2 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to the family of Paul Edward Toon as an expression of
6 our deepest sympathy.
