SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Benjamin Robert Elson of
4 Edwardsville, formerly of Godfrey, on Tuesday, December 27,
5 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The son of David C. and Nancy (Kirkman) Elson, he
7 was born February 21, 1975, in Alton; he attended Alton schools
8 through his junior year in high school and graduated from
9 Litchfield High School in 1993; he graduated in 1997 from
10 Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he was an
11 officer of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He married the former Julie Hughey on May 27,
13 2000; he was employed by Cephalon Pharmaceuticals as a district
14 sales manager; and
 
15     WHEREAS, His love, first and foremost, was his wife and
16 daughters; he loved Julie deeply and adored his little girls;
17 all will carry on the twinkle in his eye and his constant grin;
18 second to his love of family was his love of basketball;
19 affectionately known as one of the "Twin Towers," he was a
20 standout athlete at both Alton and Litchfield; although an avid
21 skier and a good golfer, he was most comfortable around and
22 above the hoops of Salu's Killion Park, Metro Sports, West,
23 SIUC, Indiana University Assembly Hall, and any other gym he
24 could find; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Benjamin Elson has been deeply felt
26 by many, especially his wife, Julie; his daughters, Abi Sholar,
27 and Ellie and Vivi Elson; his parents; his sister, Callie; his
28 brothers, Aaron Elson and Jacob Elson and his wife, Jessie; his
29 maternal grandparents, John and Mary Kirkman; his paternal
30 grandmother, Betty Elson; his mother-in-law and father-in-law,
31 Bob and Marty Hughey; and his sister-in-law, Jennifer Hughey;

1 therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Benjamin Robert Elson, and we extend our sincere condolences to
5 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
9 sympathy.
