SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Billy J. Brown of Anna on
4 November 24, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was born February 25, 1928, in Dongola,
6 the son of Albert and Mae Johnson Brown; he married Corinne
7 Durrett on June 28, 1947; and
 
8     WHEREAS, After graduating from Dongola High School, he
9 worked as a salesman and bookkeeper at the former Karraker
10 Chevrolet in Dongola until being called to serve his country
11 during the Korean conflict; he served in the U.S. Army Medical
12 Corps from 1951 to 1953; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He returned to the car dealership after his return
14 from military service, where he was a partner until 1968, when
15 he began work with the Illinois Department of Agriculture; he
16 was also active in real estate, having developed Crestwood
17 Estates subdivision at Lake of Egypt, a 12-year project, as
18 well as other rental and development properties in the Marion
19 area; from 1977 until his retirement, he was regional director
20 of driver's services with the Illinois Secretary of State; and
 
21     WHEREAS, He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of
22 Dongola, the Dongola Lodge 581 AF and AM, a 50-year member of
23 the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Ainad Shrine Temple, a past
24 worthy patron and 50-year member of Eastern Star, the Cairo
25 Flying Club, and a member and past commander of both
26 Miller-Manning American Legion Post and the Carroll P. Foster
27 VFW Post 3455; he loved traveling, flying, boating, skiing, and
28 photography; and
 
29     WHEREAS, The passing of Billy J. Brown is felt by all who
30 knew and loved him, especially his wife, Corinne; and his

1 nieces, nephews, and many friends; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Billy J. Brown and extend our sincerest condolences to his
5 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
8 sympathy.
