SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Haywood Jones Jr. on June
4 20, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was born on November 2, 1938, to Haywood
6 Jones Sr. and Mentie Fitts in Holly Springs, Mississippi; he
7 was the eldest son of nine children; he attended Doolittle
8 Elementary and Dunbar High School; he married Dorothy Mellon in
9 1970 and focused on the upbringing of his five children; his
10 main goal in life was to always provide and nurture his family
11 in a righteous manner; and
 
12     WHEREAS, In the winter of 1981 he began studying the Bible
13 with Jehovah's Witnesses; after his first study with his
14 family, he continued leading his family consecutively on a
15 weekly basis in a family Bible study; one of his greatest
16 accomplishments was being baptized as a Minister of Jehovah
17 God's organization; and
 
18     WHEREAS, He was a man who stood for respect, honor,
19 dignity, integrity, and for quality of life; he was a very
20 candid man; his goal was to preach and teach to whomever he
21 came into contact with about Jehovah's Will; he became a
22 changed and better person for his family, friends, and for
23 himself; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Haywood Jones Jr. has been deeply
25 felt by many, and he will forever and proudly be missed by his
26 loving and devoted wife, Dorothy; his children, Bernadette,
27 Delwyn, Patrice, Kimberly, and Rhonda; his grandchildren,
28 Banisha, Ashley, Taylor, Sandra, Sommer, Tiara, Diamond,
29 Alexis, Tamron, and Tamyah; his siblings, Verlene, Jane,
30 Celestine, Martina, and Alvin; his sons-in-law, John and Fred;
31 and a host of other family, friends, and spiritual brothers and

1 sisters; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Haywood Jones Jr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his
5 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6 further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
9 sympathy.
