SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 were deeply grieved to learn of the untimely death of Salah El
4 Din Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan of Springfield on July 14, 2005;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born October 13, 1956, in Alexandria,
7 Egypt, to the late Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan and Nafisa Ahmed
8 Malik; he married Nia Odeoti in 1986, and to that union was
9 born their daughter, Eman, in 1991; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from
11 Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt; he also earned a
12 CPA and a CFE; at the time of his death, he was in the process
13 of pursuing additional certifications in the insurance
14 industry; he was employed as a Regulatory Specialist in the
15 Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation,
16 Division of Insurance, and was a member of several professional
17 organizations connected with the insurance industry; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Salah was a member of the Islamic Society of
19 Greater Springfield, where he served as the Secretary of the
20 Board of Directors and President of the School Board; he was
21 also a member of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)
22 and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (C.A.I.R); and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Salah El Din Abdelaziz Tawfik
24 Hassan has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Nia;
25 his daughter, Eman; his mother, Nafisa Ahmed Malik; his
26 brothers, Yia Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan (wife, Fatima), Zakaria
27 Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan, Marouf Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan (wife,
28 Afaf), Taha Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan (wife, Asma), and Saber
29 Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan (wife, Soad); his sisters, Zakia
30 Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan and Nazira Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan; and
31 his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special

1 friends; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
3 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4 Salah El Din Abdelaziz Tawfik Hassan, and we extend our
5 condolences to his family, friends, and all who are saddened by
6 his passing; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to his wife as an expression of our heartfelt sorrow
9 and sincere sympathy.
