SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Bessie Mae Brown of Alton
4 on July 31, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown was born January 15, 1935 in Cleveland,
6 Mississippi, to Johnnie and Minerva (Zolicoffer) Blue; she
7 married Rev. Carnell Brown Sr. on November 28, 1957; and
 
8     WHEREAS, She was a bus driver for the Alton School System
9 and also for Bi-State Bus System, from where she retired in
10 2001; and
 
11     WHEREAS, She was a member of St. James Baptist Church for
12 39 years and was active in all aspects of the church; later,
13 she was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton,
14 where she was active in B.S.F. Bible study and the choir; she
15 loved flowers and her family; and
 
16     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father and her
17 daughter, Little Bessie Brown; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The passing of Bessie Mae Brown is felt by all who
19 knew and loved her, especially her husband; her mother, Minerva
20 Furlow; her daughters, Sherry McCrady and husband Rev. Darrell
21 and Reba Brown; her sons, Carnell Brown Jr. and wife Vicki,
22 Rev. Raynard Brown and wife Ann, and Aaron Brown; and her 14
23 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
24     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
25 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
26 Bessie Mae Brown and extend our sincerest condolences to her
27 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
