SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Harold Schmeilski of
4 Peoria on August 5, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Schmeilski was born July 23, 1931 in Peoria,
6 to William and Dorothy Roberts Schmeilski; he married Jean J.
7 Pitcher on February 28, 1953 in Peoria; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was a Marine Corps veteran; he received an
9 associate degree from Illinois Central College; he was a member
10 of the Retired Fire Fighters Association; he served with the
11 Peoria Fire Department for more than 30 years, retiring as
12 chief in 1983; he went on to serve as the State Fire Marshal
13 for Illinois and last worked with the Illinois Department of
14 Transportation as a business services manager; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was a member of Masonic Lodge 930, A.F. & A.M.,
16 Limestone American Legion Post 979, the Amvets, the Elks Lodge,
17 and Carpenters Local 183; he was an honorary member of
18 University of Oklahoma Hockey Club; he supported the Marantha
19 Baptist Church in Peoria; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Harold Schmeilski is felt by all
22 who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jean; his sons,
23 William (Veronica) and Steven; his daughter, Kim
24 Schmeilski-Fager; his sisters, Shirley (Ted) Schmitt, Harriett
25 (Russell Phillips) Weber, and Mary (William) Sandlin; and his
26 five grandchildren and one great-grandson; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
29 Harold Schmeilski and extend our sincerest condolences to his

1 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
4 sympathy.
