SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Camille Nicole (Comer)
4 Cook of Chicago, formerly of Gary, Indiana, on July 24, 2005;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mrs. Cook was born December 4, 1965, in Gary,
7 Indiana, to Carter and Alva Curtis Comer; she married Bruce L.
8 Cook, president of the Cook County Bar Association, in Chicago
9 on May 30, 1998; and
 
10     WHEREAS, She graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School in
11 1984 and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue
12 University; she began her professional career as a paralegal
13 with Amoco Corporation and other major law firms; after years
14 spent working in the legal profession, she pursued a career in
15 the pharmaceutical sales industry as a sales representative for
16 several major pharmaceutical companies; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Beyond her professional career, she was committed
18 to serving God and her community; as a member of the Trinity
19 United Church of Christ in Chicago, she participated actively
20 in the Million for the Master Ministry and was also a member of
21 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Camille Cook is felt by all who
23 knew and loved her, especially her husband, Bruce; her
24 daughter, Briannah; her stepdaughter, Csone; her mother, Alva
25 Curtis Comer, and father, Carter (Sandy) Comer; her brothers,
26 Tony (Janice) Comer, Carlton (Marilyn) Comer, and Jamie Comer;
27 her sister, Carliese Comer; her mother-in-law, Junerous Cook,
28 and father-in-law, Rufus Cook; her grandmother, Izora Comer;
29 her grandfather, Nebraska (Elizabeth) Curtis; her nieces,
30 Dominique, Antoinette, Colette, and Eden; her nephew,
31 Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

1     WHEREAS, She was a vibrant and beautiful woman who had a
2 very giving and loving spirit; the memory of her character,
3 intelligence, and compassion will live on in her loved ones;
4 therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our deepest
7 regret at the passing of Camille Cook and extend to her family,
8 friends, and community our most sincere condolences; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to her family as an expression of our heartfelt
12 sympathy.
