SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the recent death of Joseph Paul Abruzino
4 of LaGrange Park; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Abruzino was born in Chicago on October 14,
6 1946; he received a B.A. cum laude from Northeastern University
7 in 1979; he did post-graduate work at John Marshall Law School
8 in Chicago and earned a Master of Science from Spertus College;
9 he married Mary Louise Kenny on May 14, 1986; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the
11 United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1968 in Vietnam; he was
12 decorated with the Order of the Gallantry Cross with Palm; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was the Executive Director of the Proviso
14 Township Mental Health Commission in Hillside; he dedicated his
15 professional life to the special needs of the citizens of
16 Proviso Township for close to 30 years; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He previously worked with the professional
18 managerial science office and as a methods and procedures
19 advisor at the Department of Labor in Chicago and as a
20 placement officer with the Placement Registry at the American
21 Agricultural Economics Association; and
 
22     WHEREAS, Mr. Abruzino was the chair of the Commission for
23 Cooperative Action in Proviso Township from 1984 to 1986; he
24 had been a member of Proviso Mental Health Affiliation since
25 1976; he was an organizer of Citizens for Bush in 1988, a
26 trustee on the Proviso Township Board of Trustees from 1973 to
27 1976, and a trustee for the Village of Bellwood from 1975 to
28 1979; he was a member of the Illinois Municipal League, the
29 Proviso Municipal League, the Illinois Association of Mental
30 Health Authorities, the Council for International Relations

1 and UN Affairs, and the Lions; he was a Roman Catholic and a
2 Republican; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The passing of Joseph Paul Abruzino has been
4 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary; his children,
5 Kimberly (Ryan) Philo, Kristen Mrase, and Jeffrey Abruzino; his
6 grandchildren, Sydney, Brad, Brooke, Jessica, and Jason; his
7 sister, Donna Olech; and his niece and nephews, Robbie, Jon,
8 Mark, and Elizabeth; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11 Joseph P. Abruzino, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
12 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13 further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
16 sympathy.
