SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Paul B. "Rusty" Harris of
4 Naperville on Tuesday, March 22, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born July 6, 1921, in Normal to Ben and
6 Pauline (Palmer) Harris; he moved to Naperville in 1966; he was
7 a graduate of Illinois State University in Normal and was a
8 teacher at Normal Community High School; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Harris later worked as a textbook sales
10 representative for Scholastic Publishing Co. and retired in
11 1989 after 40 years; he was an Eagle Scout and U.S. Navy
12 veteran, serving during World War II on the USS Pamanset in the
13 Pacific theater; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a very active member for 39 years with the
15 Naperville Evening Kiwanis Club, was a volunteer for 12 years
16 at Edward Hospital, delivered Meals on Wheels, and delivered
17 videos to residents of nursing homes; he especially enjoyed
18 doing presentations about World War II for grade-school
19 children on Veterans Day; he also enjoyed participating in the
20 School District 203 HURRAH program and reading at Prairie
21 School to the primary-grade students; he served on the board of
22 directors for the Old Sawmill Condo board for 15 years and was
23 a 39-year member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Naperville;
24 he enjoyed being with his family and loved to golf; and
 
25     WHEREAS, The passing of Paul B. "Rusty" Harris has been
26 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Mary (Salmon) Harris;
27 his son, John "Jack" (wife Ann) Harris; his daughters, Nancy
28 (husband Gary) Blotcky and Polly (husband Pat) Benton; his
29 grandchildren, Kelly First, Chris, Andy, and Tim Grimes, Jay
30 and Sarah Benton, and Mike, Molly, Kyle, and Tommy Harris; his
31 great-grandchildren, Katy First and Adam and Amanda Grimes; and

1 his brothers, James William (wife Carolee) Harris and Richard
2 L. (wife Carol) Harris; he was preceded in death by his
3 parents, Ben and Pauline (Palmer) Harris; and by two brothers,
4 Jack and Robert; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Paul B. "Rusty" Harris, and we extend our deepest sympathy to
8 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
12 condolences.
