SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of the Reverend Orrin M.
4 Anderson of Godfrey on Thursday, March 24, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born April 8, 1920, on a farm near Appam,
6 North Dakota, to John and Blenda (Kron) Anderson; he married
7 the former Myra L. Wright on July 7, 1945, in Collingdale,
8 Pennsylvania; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Reverend Anderson graduated from Sioux Falls
10 Baptist College, Bethel Baptist College in Minneapolis, and
11 Eastern Baptist Seminary in Philadelphia; his ministry of 59
12 years began in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Illinois before
13 moving to Alton, where he served 27 years as pastor at the
14 First Baptist Church in Alton; and
 
15     WHEREAS, After his retirement, he served as an interim
16 pastor at many churches in the area; he was a member of the
17 national board of the American Baptist Convention in Valley
18 Forge, Pennsylvania, a board member of the Salvation Army in
19 Alton, and past board member of Shurtleff College in Alton; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of the Reverend Orrin M. Anderson has
21 been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Myra; his
22 daughter, Elaine Hovey, and her husband, James; his sons, Lief
23 Anderson and his wife, Diane, and Erick Anderson and his wife,
24 Chris; his grandchildren, Matt Anderson and Renee Anderson,
25 Colin Anderson and Kara Anderson, Nicole Beatty and her
26 husband, Tim, and Gretchen Andridge and her husband, Mike; his
27 great-grandchildren, Vincent Beatty and Hollyn Beatty; and his
28 sister, Mae Belle Goudy; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 the Reverend Orrin M. Anderson, and we extend our deepest
2 sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
3 him; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
6 condolences.
