SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Richard A. "Dick" Switzer
4 of Kewanee on Sunday, March 13, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Kewanee on July 24, 1926, to Burns
6 and Philomena (VanRamedonk) Switzer; he graduated from
7 Wethersfield High School, where he was a track star; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Switzer valiantly served his country as a
9 member of the U.S. Army; he was an infantryman and then in the
10 11th Airborne; he served in the occupation of Japan; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He married Alice Ouart on April 21, 1951, in
12 Kewanee; he had worked as a pressman for the Star Courier and
13 later as a custodian and bus driver for Wethersfield School; he
14 enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, collecting arrowheads, and
15 playing cards; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The passing of Richard A. "Dick" Switzer has been
17 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Alice; his son,
18 Robert (Becky) Switzer; his daughter, Mrs. Don (Sandra) Wirth;
19 his grandchildren, Nicholas Switzer, Mrs. Craig (Valerie)
20 Schneider, and Ryan Switzer; his great-grandson, Max
21 Schneider; and his brother, Roger VanZandbergen; he was
22 preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gilberta Wozniak;
23 his twin brother, Robert, in infancy; and his granddaughter,
24 Tara; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
27 Richard A. "Dick" Switzer, and we extend our deepest sympathy
28 to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
29 it further
