SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Darrell L. McGibany Sr. of
4 Alton on Thursday, February 17, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on August 15, 1923 in Sorento to David
6 James and Emma (Strohkirch) McGibany; he married Mona J.
7 Humphreys on December 23, 1944, in Huntingdon, England; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. McGibany valiantly served his country as a
9 sergeant in the Eighth Air Force during World War II; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Prior to retirement, he was employed for 27 years
11 at the former Alton Box Board Company as a driver, was a member
12 of Teamsters Local 525, a life member of Veterans of Foreign
13 Wars Alton Post 1308 and The Eighth Air Force Historical
14 Society, a member of American Legion Sorento Post 0713, and of
15 2nd S.A.D. Association/8th Air Force England; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The passing of Darrell L. McGibany Sr. has been
17 deeply felt by many, especially his beloved and devoted wife of
18 60 years, Mona; his sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell L.
19 "Mern" and Rita McGibany Jr., Ronald "Moine" and Mary McGibany,
20 Michael "Mike" McGibany, and Sue McGibany; his grandchildren,
21 Ted McGibany and his wife, Kim, Lisa Maynard and her husband,
22 Quintin, Michaela Peipert and husband, Adam, Matthew McGibany,
23 Ryan McGibany, Gwaine McGibany, and Joseph McGibany; his five
24 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Cleda Wall, Letty Wall,
25 and Sharon Cruthis; in addition to his parents, he was also
26 preceded in death by four brothers, David, Dennis, Dean, and
27 Max McGibany; and his sisters, Reahn Goshorn, Wanda Lynch, and
28 Delores Davis; therefore, be it
 
29     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
30 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 Darrell L. McGibany Sr., and we extend our deepest sympathy to
2 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
3 further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
6 condolences.
