SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Arthur Askew on December
4 21, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on April 21, 1943, in Loachapoka,
6 Alabama, to the union of Clara Humphrey and Monroe Askew; he
7 married Evelyn Caffey in 1991; and
 
8     WHEREAS, In 1960, Mr. Askew moved to Chicago, where he
9 received his engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of
10 Technology; he was employed by General Motors in 1971; as a
11 faithful and dedicated employee for 31 years, he gained the
12 trust and respect of all he worked with; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was a good father, husband, and friend; he
14 deeply loved his family and friends; he was preceded in death
15 by both parents; his daughter, Donna; his sister, Betty Jones;
16 and his brothers, David Lee, John, and George Jones; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The passing of Arthur Askew has been deeply felt
18 by many, especially his wife, Evelyn; his children, Anita,
19 Traci (Kevin), Luther, Calvin, Alyne, Steven (Alicia), Bryant,
20 Fred, Carrie, and Mark; his grandchildren, Tiesha, Dwayne,
21 Asia, Annalise, Paris, Jenia, Stevie, J'Lynne, Javonnie,
22 Javonte, Shevon, Selena, Macmark, Kalea, Trenton, and Armani;
23 his brother, Adolph; his sisters, Margaret and Marie; his five
24 great-grandchildren; his five sisters-in-law; his six
25 brothers-in-law; his uncle; and his many nieces, nephews,
26 relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
28 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
29 Arthur Askew, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family,
30 friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
