SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Glendle G. Pickering of
4 Maryville on Friday, January 14, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Pickering was born on June 10, 1933, in
6 Harrisburg to Alvin and Mary, nee Sullivan, Pickering; he
7 married Sally Muren on November 28, 1953; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He was an active member of St. John United Church
9 of Christ, Collinsville; he was the retired director of the
10 Collinsville Vocational Center; he was a former football,
11 baseball, and track coach at Sparta High School and Madison
12 High School and was a former principal at the Florissant Valley
13 Tech Center; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mr. Pickering graduated from East St. Louis High
15 School and earned a bachelor's degree from Truman State
16 University and a master's from Southern Illinois University at
17 Edwardsville; he was a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame, the
18 Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and the National Rifle
19 Association; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Pickering was honorably discharged from the
21 U.S. Marine Corps as a first lieutenant; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Glendle G. Pickering has been
23 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Sally; his sons,
24 Scott (Kathie) Pickering, Joseph (Michelle) Pickering, and
25 Timothy Pickering; his daughter, Beth Coulter; his sister, Jane
26 (Dene) Knight; his grandchildren, Justin Pickering, Joe
27 Davidson, Kelli and Kacie Coulter, and Corrie and Cole
28 Pickering; and his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and
29 friends; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be
30 it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Glendle G. Pickering, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
4 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5 further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
8 condolences.
