SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Hydrogen, a non-carbon energy carrier that can be
3 made from clean renewable energy, is ideally suited to address
4 global, regional, and local energy and environmental
5 challenges; and
 
6     WHEREAS, President George Bush has proposed $322 million
7 for Department of Energy Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Programs in the
8 United States; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois pledges to be a leader in
10 renewable energy production, efficiency, and conservation as
11 well as in creating, promoting, and commercializing new
12 technologies and industries; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Hydrogen-powered vehicles and infrastructure can
14 lead to energy independence, lower global warming pollution,
15 improve fuel economy, reduce health harms associated with motor
16 vehicle related air pollution, and provide economic and
17 employment opportunities throughout the State; therefore, be
18 it
 
19     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
21 CONCURRING HEREIN, that the State of Illinois is committed to
22 achieving a clean energy and transportation future based on the
23 commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
