SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/3-809.1   from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-809.1

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the owner of a vehicle or combination of vehicles of the second division, registered and used for transporting soil and conservation machinery and equipment, may elect to pay $125 to the Secretary of State for each registration year, in addition to the normal registration fee, to make the vehicle subject to the gross weight limitations applicable to a special hauling vehicle. Provides that, if the additional fee is paid, the Secretary shall designate the vehicle as a special hauling vehicle. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5 Sections 1-190.05 and 3-809.1 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/1-190.05)
7     Sec. 1-190.05. Special hauling vehicle. A vehicle or
8 combination of vehicles transporting asphalt or concrete in the
9 plastic state or a vehicle or combination of vehicles that is
10 subject to the weight limitations in subsections (a) and (b) of
11 Section 15-111 for which the owner of the vehicle or
12 combination of vehicles has elected to pay, in addition to the
13 registration fees stated in subsection (a) of Section 3-809.1
14 or subsection (a) or (c) of Section 3-815 or Section 3-818,
15 $125 $100 to the Secretary of State for each registration year.

18     Sec. 3-809.1. Vehicles of second division used for
19 transporting soil and conservation machinery and
20 equipment-Registration fee.
21     (a) Not for hire vehicles of the second division used, only
22 in the territory within a 75 mile radius of the owner's
23 headquarters, solely for transporting the owner's machinery,
24 equipment, plastic tubing, tile and steel reinforcement
25 materials used exclusively for soil and water conservation work
26 on farms, other work on farms and in drainage districts
27 organized for agricultural purposes, shall be registered upon
28 the filing of a proper application and the payment of a
29 registration fee of $488 per annum. The registration fee of
30 $488 shall be paid in full and shall not be reduced even though
31 such registration is made during the second half of the

1 registration year.
2     (b) A special hauling vehicle is a vehicle or combination
3 of vehicles of the second division registered under this
4 Section transporting soil and conservation machinery and
5 equipment that is subject to the gross weight limitations in
6 subsection (b) of Section 15-111 for which the owner of the
7 vehicle or combination of vehicles has elected to pay, in
8 addition to the registration fee, $125 to the Secretary of
9 State for each registration year. The Secretary shall designate
10 this class of vehicle as a special hauling vehicle.
