SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 301/25-5

    Amends the Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and Dependency Act. Provides that the Department shall provide adequate funding for the comprehensive and appropriate substance abuse treatment of any Illinois resident requesting these services from a licensed provider, community-based organization, or medical facility within the State.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and
5 Dependency Act is amended by changing Section 25-5 as follows:
 
6     (20 ILCS 301/25-5)
7     Sec. 25-5. Establishment of comprehensive treatment
8 system; available on request. The Department shall develop,
9 fund and implement a comprehensive, statewide, community-based
10 system for the provision of a full array of intervention,
11 treatment and aftercare for persons suffering from alcohol and
12 other drug abuse and dependency. The system created under this
13 Section shall be based on the premise that coordination among
14 and integration between all community and governmental systems
15 will facilitate effective and efficient program implementation
16 and utilization of existing resources. The Department shall
17 provide adequate funding for the comprehensive and appropriate
18 substance abuse treatment of any Illinois resident requesting
19 these services from a licensed provider, community-based
20 organization, or medical facility within the State.
