HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Melanie and Ed
4 Bradley of Marion on the occasion of their retirements with a
5 combined total of over 60 years in education; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Melanie Bradley holds an Associate of Arts degree
7 from Southeastern Illinois College and a B.S. in education from
8 Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; she has taught for
9 25 years in Harrisburg Schools; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bradley began teaching as a substitute
11 teacher in the Harrisburg School District; prior to that she
12 was a stay-at-home mom to the Bradley's two sons; she went on
13 to teach language arts at the junior high level, then third
14 grade, and has spent the last 16 years of her educational
15 career as a kindergarten teacher; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Ed Bradley holds a bachelor's degree in education
17 and a master's degree in educational administration, both from
18 Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he also did
19 post-master's degree work; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Bradley began his teaching career at Eldorado
21 High School in 1969; he moved to Harrisburg High School in
22 1970, and then to Malan Junior High School, where his
23 administrative career began in 1987 as assistant principal; he
24 became principal at Malan Junior High School in 1991; he
25 received his superintendent endorsement in 1995 and became
26 superintendent of the Cobden School District; he returned to
27 the Harrisburg School District to serve as superintendent in
28 2003; and
 
29     WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley are very proud of their two
30 sons, both attorneys, State Representative John Edward Bradley

1 who is married to Amy June Bradley, and Joshua Mark Bradley who
2 is engaged to Allison Austin; Melanie and Ed are the proud
3 grandparents of Jackson Edward and Joshua Gabriel; and
 
4     WHEREAS, During retirement, the Bradleys plan to travel,
5 fish, and play with their grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8 we congratulate Melanie and Ed Bradley on the occasion of their
9 retirements, and we thank them for their many years devoted to
10 the education of young people; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to Mr. and Mrs. Bradley as an expression of our deep
13 respect and esteem.
