HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death in the line
4 of duty of Deputy Sheriff Elizabeth Mazella Edwards of
5 Rosiclare on February 12, 2006; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Deputy Edwards, the youngest daughter of Wayne and
7 Nancie "Susie" Edwards, was born on June 2, 1979; she attended
8 Hardin County schools, where she had many, many friends; she
9 was active in softball, band, and cross-country; and
 
10     WHEREAS, In May of 1997, she was baptized at the Hardin
11 County Church of Christ; she graduated from Hardin County High
12 School and spent a year at Freed-Hardeman University in
13 Henderson, Tennessee, and attended Southeastern Illinois
14 College; and
 
15     WHEREAS, After the events of September 11, 2001, she joined
16 the United States Army Reserves and proudly served her country;
17 she went on to serve in another capacity, becoming a Deputy for
18 the Hardin County Sheriffs Department in the fall of 2005; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Elizabeth touched a lot of people and families;
20 she made friends wherever she went; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Deputy Elizabeth M. Edwards has
22 been deeply felt by many, especially her fiance, Nathan Moore;
23 her son, Lucas; her parents, Daddy, Wayne Edwards and his wife
24 Michele, and Momma, Nancie "Susie" Edwards; her sisters,
25 Shealean (Wayne) Cullum and Waynette Edwards; her nieces and
26 nephews, Kelby, Kelsy, and Caleb Cullum, and Bethany and Aaron
27 Bryant; her many, many friends; CA Bryant and Rick Bethel; the
28 United States Army; her Sheriffs Department family; the
29 Moore/Joiner/Putts family; and her beloved dogs, Lucy, Buster,
30 and Bailey; she was preceded in death by her brother, Stewart

1 Wayne Edwards; her grandparents, Clifford "Buck" and Mary
2 Edwards and Charlie and Pearl Ledbetter; her stepmom, Beverly
3 Edwards, and her uncle Dean Edwards; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6 we mourn the passing of Deputy Sheriff Elizabeth Mazella
7 Edwards, and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family,
8 friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Deputy Edwards and
10 her willingness to serve her fellow man that led to her making
11 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to her family as an expression of our sincerest
14 condolences.
