HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Charles S. Childs, Jr., co-owner of A.A. Rayner &
3 Sons Modern Funeral Service in Chicago, is the first African
4 American to head the Illinois Funeral Director's Association;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Childs will be the 117th president and will be
7 installed on June 27, 2006; the Illinois Funeral Directors
8 Association is one of the oldest and largest funeral directors
9 associations in the country and was created in 1881; the
10 mission of the IFDA is to provide the resources to support its
11 members in being professionally and operationally superior and
12 to advocate for the funeral service profession; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Since its establishment in 1947, A.A. Rayner &
14 Sons Modern Funeral Service has maintained a heritage of
15 community service and commitment to the community; from the
16 company's founding, its families have supported A.A. Rayner and
17 Company. Ltd.; Mr. Childs is a third generation owner; and
 
18     WHEREAS, A.A. Rayner & Sons Modern Funeral Service was a
19 recipient of the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award, given to
20 those businesses that have "demonstrated their commitment to
21 upholding the trust and respect of their customers, employees,
22 suppliers, industry peers, and the community in which they do
23 business."; therefore, be it
 
24     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
25 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
26 we congratulate Charles Childs, Jr., on being selected as
27 president of the Illinois Funeral Director's Association; and
28 be it further
 
29     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
30 presented to Mr. Childs as an expression of our esteem.
