HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives have
3 learned with great sadness of the death of Ila M. Bauer of
4 Round Lake Park on Sunday, March 5, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer was born on March 9, 1933 in a small
6 town in Wisconsin; she attended school in that small town and
7 then entered the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater,
8 graduating with a degree in business education; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Following graduation, Mrs. Bauer moved to Round
10 Lake and began her teaching career at Round Lake High School;
11 she continued her education, receiving a master of arts degree
12 in education supervision and administration from Roosevelt
13 University and a Ph.D. in education management from LaSalle
14 University; she retired from teaching in June of 1994; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer was elected mayor of Round Lake Park in
16 1997; she continued to serve as mayor until her death; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Route 120 Bypass
18 Committee, the Mano A Mano Board of Directors, the B.E.S.T.
19 organization, the Lake County Community Development
20 Commission, the Lake County Municipal League Board of
21 Directors, the Metropolitan Mayors' Caucus Legislative Action
22 Team, and the Lake County Affordable Housing Task Force; she
23 was a member of the planning group for Families Matter and
24 served on support committees for the Round Lake School
25 District; she served on many additional community task forces
26 and boards of directors in her area; and
 
27     WHEREAS, Whether it was Mano A Mano, the B.E.S.T.
28 organization, Character Counts, or her beloved School District
29 116, Mrs. Bauer brought her enthusiasm to the group project;
30 she was a passionate advocate for all in her community and in

1 Lake County; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Mrs. Bauer taught all those she came in contact
3 with about commitment, dedication, focus, and loyalty; she was
4 a great friend and a great person; and
 
5     WHEREAS, The passing of Ila M. Bauer has been deeply felt
6 by many, especially her loving husband of 47 years, Don; her
7 son, Stanley (Diana); and her grandchildren, Ryan and Dilonna;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we mourn the passing of Ila M. Bauer, and we extend our
12 sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
13 and loved her; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
16 sympathy for their loss.
