HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner graduated from Northwestern
3 University with a major in biology and started his teaching
4 career in 1955 at Maine Township High School; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Frederick Wagner was a professional educator for
6 37 years until his retirement in 1992, at which time he was an
7 advanced placement biology teacher; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner was a member of the National
9 Association of Biology Teachers and a founder of the Northern
10 Illinois Association of Biology Teachers; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner was instrumental in helping
12 the Maine Teachers organize as part of the Illinois Education
13 Association; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner was a leader for many years
15 within his local association; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner was an activist within the
17 Illinois Education Association, including service on his
18 Regional Council and as a delegate to many IEA and NEA
19 Representative Assemblies; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner has served as an elected
21 member of the IEA-Retired Council since its creation on July
22 15, 1994; and
 
23     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner has served as the Chairperson
24 of the Illinois Education Association-Retired for nine years,
25 from April 15, 1997, through June 30, 2006; and
 
26     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner has been member of the IEA
27 Board of Directors since April 15, 1997; and

1     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner was the 2000 recipient of the
2 Annual Mary Lou and Keith Hauge Award, which recognizes those
3 IEA-Retired members who have made significant contributions to
4 the IEA-Retired Program; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Frederick G. Wagner has been an IEA-NEA member for
6 47 years; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we congratulate Mr. Frederick G. Wagner for his significant
10 commitment to public education in Illinois and for his 47 years
11 of devoted service to the Illinois Education Association; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Mr. Frederick G. Wagner as an expression of our
15 admiration and esteem.
