HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Lorraine Epperson
4 as she retires from the Board of Trustees of Western Illinois
5 University; and
 
6     WHEREAS, She is a lifelong McDonough County resident and a
7 real estate broker and owner of Century 21-Purdum-Epperson in
8 Macomb; she entered the real estate business in 1974 with the
9 R.B. Purdum Real Estate Firm and has earned the Certified
10 Residential Specialist degree and the Lifetime Diamond Award,
11 which is the Illinois Association of Realtors' highest award;
12 and
 
13     WHEREAS, Ms. Epperson received both a bachelor's degree
14 (1948) and master's degree (1952) in education from WIU; before
15 turning to a business career, she was in education for 34
16 years, including 18 years as director of guidance at Macomb
17 High School; and
 
18     WHEREAS, She served as a Board of Governors Universities
19 trustee from 1993 to 1995; in 1988, she was recognized by the
20 WIU College of Business with a Distinguished Alumni Award; she
21 served on the WIU Alumni Council from 1979 to 1981 and from
22 1984 to 1990; she was also a member of the WIU Foundation Board
23 of Directors during 1993 and 1994; and
 
24     WHEREAS, She has conscientiously served the citizens of the
25 State of Illinois as a member of the Western Illinois
26 University Board of Trustees since 1995; she served as Chair of
27 the Board from July 1998 to June 2000 and was the Chair of the
28 Academic and Student Services Committee from 2001 until her
29 retirement; therefore, be it

1 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Lorraine Epperson on the occasion of her
3 retirement from the Western Illinois University Board of
4 Trustees, and we thank her for her long and dedicated service;
5 and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Lorraine Epperson as an expression of our respect
8 and esteem.
