HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death in Iraq of
4 Sergeant First Class Kyle B. Wehrly of Galesburg on November 3,
5 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Sergeant Wehrly was a member of Battery C of the
7 123rd Artillery Unit the Illinois National Guard based out of
8 Galesburg, but was deployed with Battery B, based out of
9 Macomb; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He was born on October 4, 1977, in Nashville,
11 Illinois, to Reverend Peter Wehrly and Nita Cross; he was a
12 1996 midterm graduate of Galesburg High School, where he is
13 remembered for his sense of humor, the way he looked out for
14 his brother, and his willingness to accept responsibility; he
15 joined the Illinois National Guard during his junior year on
16 September 28, 1995; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He worked at Lowe's and had also worked for Hansen
18 Lumber and Carter Lumber; he officiated soccer and played
19 slow-pitch softball; he loved the Cubs; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple
21 Heart among many other citations; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Staff Sergeant Kyle Wehrly has been
23 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Janet Wehrly; his
24 six-year-old daughter, Kylee; his father, Reverend Peter
25 Wehrly; his mother, Nita Cross; and his brother, Dr. Lance J.
26 Wehrly; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we mourn the passing of Sergeant First Class Kyle B. Wehrly,

1 and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and
2 all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Wehrly and
4 his willingness to serve our country, which led to him making
5 the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest
8 condolences.
