HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Roger D.
4 Klukis of Bethany on December 31, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Roger Klukis was born on May 27, 1946, in Vandalia
6 to Charles and Pauline Kagy Klukis; he attended Argenta High
7 School where it is said that he had a permanent seat in the
8 detention hall; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He married Phyllis Adams on July 9, 1964 in
10 Maryville, Missouri; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the
12 U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1969, where he
13 served with the Screaming Eagles as a paratrooper in the 101st
14 Airborne Division and received the Purple Heart; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Klukis retired from Wagner Casting in Decatur
16 in 2005 after 41 years of service; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mr. Klukis was a volunteer firefighter in
18 Warrensburg from 1970 to 1979 before moving to Bethany and
19 joining the Bethany Fire Department; since 1980, he served the
20 Bethany community as a firefighter, Assistant Fire Chief, and
21 most recently, as the Fire Chief; he had taught Certified
22 Firefighter and Certified EMT classes as well as fire
23 prevention; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Roger D. Klukis is felt by all who
25 knew and loved him, especially his wife, Phyllis; his son,
26 Charlie Klukis and his wife Cindi; his daughter, Jane Williams;
27 his grandchildren, Jennifer, Alyssa, and Matthew Klukis,
28 BreeAna and TJ Williams, and Damien Coney; his mother, Pauline
29 Klukis; his mother-in-law, Alta Adams; his brothers, Lonnie

1 Klukis, Jim Klukis, and Rex Klukis; his sisters, Carol Kay
2 Henderson, Mary Jo Clewell, Nancy Irvine, and Kathy Frasier;
3 and his many nieces and nephews; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Dean;
5 his father, Charles; his father-in-law, Charley Adams; and his
6 brother, Charles Joe Klukis; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9 we mourn the passing of Roger D. Klukis and extend our
10 sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community;
11 and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
14 sympathy.
