HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On September 25, 2005, the Louis Joliet Chapter of
3 the National Society of the Daughters of the American
4 Revolution will be "marking" the Plymouth Congregational
5 Church meeting house in recognition of its long service to Will
6 County; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The special event will include a program in the
8 church, the unveiling and dedication of a bronze plaque which
9 will be affixed to a large rock on the church lawn, and light
10 refreshments; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The Greek Revival frame building, now known as
12 Plymouth Congregational Church, was built in 1850 and dedicated
13 on January 14, 1851, by the members of the Plainfield
14 Congregational Church, who organized their congregation in the
15 mid-1830s; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The building was remodeled in the early 1900s and
17 an addition to the west and north was completed in 2002;
18 located in the Village of Plainfield, which evolved from an
19 early pioneer community in the Will County region, the historic
20 structure continues to serve the original purpose for which it
21 was erected; therefore, be it
 
22     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we congratulate the Plymouth Congregational Church on being
25 "marked" by the National Society of the Daughters of the
26 American Revolution in recognition of its long service to Will
27 County; and be it further
 
28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the church as an expression of our respect and
30 esteem.
