HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry was born on August 12,
3 1932, to Hugh and Winifred King McGrane in Far Rockaway, New
4 York; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Hugh McGrane was born on January 18, 1901, to
6 Patrick and Mary Rodgers McGrane in Mullatee, Carlingford,
7 County Louth, Ireland, and immigrated to the United States in
8 1921; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Winifred King McGrane was born on October 14,
10 1899, to George and Ellen King in Loughborough, Leicester,
11 England, and immigrated to the United States in 1903; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Hugh McGrane was a New York City policeman, and he
13 and his wife had six children and twenty grandchildren: Hugh
14 (Rose), a Marine Corps veteran and New York City policeman, and
15 his children, Hugh, John, Joanne, Maureen, Colleen, Marianne,
16 Joseph, and Tom; George (Joan), a Marine Corps veteran of the
17 Korean War, teacher, coach, and Far East scholar, and his
18 children, Kim and Kevin; John (Marian), a Marine Corps veteran
19 and attorney in New York, and his children, John, Timothy,
20 Matthew, Peter, Deirdre, and Shelia; Winifred and her children,
21 Erin, Bridget, and Patrick; James McGrane; and Mary Ellen
22 (Robert) and her son, Robert; and
 
23     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry graduated from St. Mary
24 Star of the Sea in 1946 and Stella Maris High School in 1950;
25 and
 
26     WHEREAS, On May 4, 1960, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry married
27 Robert Barry, who was born on July 21, 1931, to Michael and
28 Grace Varley Barry; and
 
29     WHEREAS, Robert and Mary Ellen McGrane Barry had one son,

1 Robert, born on January 28, 1961; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry and her husband lived in
3 Ottawa, Illinois, for over 20 years, owning and operating
4 Bel-Mill and Marseilles Liquor and Variety; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Upon the death of her husband on November 28,
6 1987, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry moved to Arlington Heights and
7 worked for 16 years in the Cook County Circuit Clerk's office;
8 and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry was an honest, hard
10 working, and well-respected employee of the Circuit Clerk's
11 office; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mary Ellen McGrane was a devoted mother and loving
13 grandmother; and
 
14     WHEREAS, On February 26, 2005, Mary Ellen McGrane Barry
15 died from cancer; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18 we mourn the passing of Mary Ellen McGrane Barry, and we extend
19 our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all who knew
20 and loved her, especially her grandchildren, Allison and Andrew
21 Barry; and be it further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23 presented to her family as an expression of our sincere
24 condolences.
