HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, A volunteer project at the Salvation Army in
3 Waukegan has been named an outstanding Make A Difference Day
4 project by USA Weekend magazine in partnership with the Points
5 of Light Foundation and The News Sun; and
 
6     WHEREAS, An estimated three million people took part in
7 service projects on the 14th annual Make A Difference Day on
8 Oct. 23, 2004; and
 
9     WHEREAS, In Waukegan, about a dozen volunteers turned out
10 to help the Salvation Army clean up kitchen equipment for a
11 remodeling project at the Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center at
12 431 S. Genesee St.; to save money, some equipment from the old
13 kitchen was used in the new kitchen, including sinks, food
14 preparation counters, and shelving; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Also on Make A Difference Day, Salvation Army
16 residents volunteered at a local food bank, the Exchange Club's
17 Field of Healing program, and at the Army's Camp Wonderland in
18 Wisconsin; therefore, be it
 
19     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
21 we congratulate the Salvation Army in Waukegan on having a
22 project named an outstanding Make a Difference Day project, and
23 we thank the organization for its community service work; and
24 be it further
 
25     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the Salvation Army in Waukegan as an expression of
27 our respect and esteem.
