HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Rebecca Evans Caldwell,
4 an esteemed resident of North Chicago, on the occasion of the
5 celebration of her 100th birthday on January 29, 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Rebecca Evans Caldwell was born in Marion, Alabama
7 on January 29, 1905 to Emma Green Evans and Rufus Evans; she
8 was the oldest of six children; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She was active in Morning Star Baptist Church
10 activities and attended the local school; she was a young adult
11 when she left to go to Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked for
12 many years; and
 
13     WHEREAS, In the 1950s, she moved to Chicago with her late
14 husband; she later moved to North Chicago, joining the
15 Christian Valley M.B. Church; she joined the Mother's Board and
16 was appointed Chaplain; years later, she was nominated
17 President of the Board, a post she held for many years; she now
18 serves as Vice-President of the Board; and
 
19     WHEREAS, She has three children, one daughter and two sons;
20 she has six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and
21 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
22     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
23 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
24 we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to
25 Rebecca Evans Caldwell on the occasion of her 100th birthday;
26 that we commend her for achieving a long and fulfilling life,
27 and we wish her continued happiness in the future; and be it
28 further
 
29     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
