HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Nat P. Ozmon, Senior Partner and a founder of
3 Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak, & Kohen, Ltd., will be celebrating
4 his 80th birthday on March 4, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born in Davenport, Iowa, attended college
6 at New York University, and received his law degree from
7 Northwestern University, where he was first in his class; he
8 was elected to the Board of Law Review and installed in the
9 Order of the Coif, the legal scholastic honor society; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon has spent over 50 years working as a
11 trial and appellate lawyer, dedicated to preserving and
12 enhancing the rights of injured victims; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He is a recognized Leader of the Bar, and is a
14 Past President of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; he
15 served on the Managing Boards of the Association of Trial
16 Lawyers of America, the Chicago Bar Association, and The
17 Society of Trial Lawyers; he is a pioneer in expanding the law
18 to protect injured construction workers; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon has been recognized for his work in many
20 ways; he received the Leonard Ring Lifetime Achievement Award
21 for his commitment to victims rights and trial by jury; he
22 earned the American Ort Jurispurdence Award for a lifetime of
23 distinguished service to the legal profession; the Board of
24 Regents of the Academy of Illinois Lawyers designated him as a
25 Laureate in recognition for his high standards and integrity in
26 his contributions to the legal community; and he has been
27 listed in the publications "Best Lawyers in America" and
28 "Leading Illinois Attorneys"; and
 
29     WHEREAS, He has been a facility member of the National
30 Institute for Trial Advocacy, The Illinois College of Advocacy,

1 as well as a member of the Board of Directors for the Illinois
2 Institute for Continuing Legal Education; for approximately
3 ten years, he was an Adjunct Professor at the Loyola University
4 School of Law, where he taught trial advocacy to senior law
5 students; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Ozmon is joined in celebrating his birthday by
7 his wife, June Maguire Ozmon, a nurse educator, and his
8 children, Nat P. Jr., an executive in the Aviation Department
9 of Sundstrand Corp., Lorna, an independent radio consultant,
10 Laird, a practicing attorney, Kelle, a practicing Doctor of
11 Chiropractic, and stepdaughter, Rachel Maguire, an independent
12 documentary film producer; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15 we congratulate Nat P. Ozmon on the occasion of his 80th
16 birthday; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to Mr. Ozmon as an expression of our respect and
19 esteem and with best wishes for many, many more birthday
20 celebrations.
