SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
New Act

    Creates the Private Lake Bylaws Act. Provides that if an incorporated or unincorporated association of property owners who have the right to use a private lake that is owned by the association or the property owners adopts bylaws regulating the use of or access to the private lake, lakeshore, or associated structures, neither the bylaws nor any other instrument governing the amendment of the bylaws may require an affirmative vote of more than 65% of the property owners to amend the bylaws. Does not apply to bylaws or other instruments that were in effect before the effective date of the Act.

1     AN ACT concerning property.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5 Private Lake Bylaws Act.
 
6     Section 5. Private lake; bylaws. If an incorporated or
7 unincorporated association of property owners who have the
8 right to use a private lake that is owned by the association or
9 the property owners adopts bylaws regulating the use of or
10 access to the private lake, lakeshore, or associated
11 structures, neither the bylaws nor any other instrument
12 governing the amendment of the bylaws may require an
13 affirmative vote of more than 65% of the property owners to
14 amend the bylaws.
 
15     Section 10. Applicability. This Act does not apply to
16 bylaws or other instruments that were in effect before the
17 effective date of the Act.
