1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by
5 changing Section 7g as follows:
 
6     (110 ILCS 305/7g)
7     Sec. 7g. Tuition waivers. In addition to any tuition
8 waivers that that the Board of Trustees offers that are exempt
9 by statute from any tuition waiver limitation established by
10 the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the Board of Trustees
11 is authorized to waive, for individuals with the requisite
12 athletic, academic, or other abilities, that percentage of its
13 undergraduate tuition that is authorized under the tuition
14 waiver limitation established in regulations promulgated by
15 the Illinois Board of Higher Education. If in any fiscal year
16 the Board of Trustees issues undergraduate tuition waivers to
17 individuals in an aggregate amount exceeding the aggregate
18 tuition waiver amount authorized for that fiscal year under the
19 tuition waiver limitation established by the Illinois Board of
20 Higher Education, the University's budget request for the
21 succeeding fiscal year may be reduced by the Illinois Board of
22 Higher Education by an amount equal to that tuition waiver
23 excess.
