 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois learned with regret of the passing of Walter Clinton
 4    Griffin of Waukegan on Saturday, October 25, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS,  Walter Clinton Griffin was born on May 28, 1937
 6    at the Griffin family farm in Mercer County, Ohio to  Beverly
 7    (nee John) and John Alexander Griffin; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Griffin served in the United States Marine
 9    Corps from 1956 to  1960;  he  owned  and  operated  Illinois
10    Distributing  Company from 1960 to 1978; he then was employed
11    by the City of Waukegan in various administrative posts; most
12    recently, Mr. Griffin was employed by the State  of  Illinois
13    as   a   Special   Agent  for  the  Illinois  Liquor  Control
14    Commission; and

15        WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was a life member  of  the  Waukegan
16    Historical  Society,  a life member of the VFW, Spencerville,
17    Ohio, and founder of the Near North Neighborhood Association,
18    the 20th Century Railroad Club, and a member of Lambs  Parent
19    Club;  he was involved in many political campaigns throughout
20    the years and enjoyed a good political discussion  immensely;
21    and

22        WHEREAS,  The  passing of Walter Clinton Griffin has been
23    deeply felt by all who knew and  loved  him,  especially  his
24    wife  of  43  years,  Sara (nee Klass) Griffin; his daughter,
25    Teresa (Marc) Hansen; his  sons,  David  Griffin  and  Daniel
26    (Ellen) Griffin; his grandsons, Matthew and Jacob Hansen; his
27    granddaughters, Caitlin Mae and Claire Elizabeth Griffin; his
28    brothers,  John  Murray,  Donald,  and  Thomas;  his sisters,
29    Sondra, Susan, and Holly; his brother-in-law, William  Klass;
30    and  his  many  cousins,  nieces,  nephews, dear friends, and
31    neighbors; he was preceded  in  death  by  his  parents,  one
32    brother,   Arnold   Blaine   Griffin,   and  his  mother  and

 1    father-in-law, Mae and Albert Klass; therefore, be it

 2        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
 3    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
 4    all who knew him, the death  of  Walter  Clinton  Griffin  of
 5    Waukegan; and be it further

 6        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 7    presented to the family  of  Walter  Clinton  Griffin  as  an
 8    expression of our sincerest condolences.
