| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Niles Police |
4 |
| Chief Gerald Sheehan on the occasion of his retirement after 33 |
5 |
| years with the department; and |
6 |
| WHEREAS, Police Chief Sheehan will be retiring on September |
7 |
| 3, 2004; he was named police chief in 2000 following the |
8 |
| retirement of Chief Ray Giovannelli; he started out as a patrol |
9 |
| officer with the department in 1971 and worked his way up |
10 |
| through the ranks, serving as a detective, sergeant, |
11 |
| lieutenant, commander, and deputy chief; and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, Police Chief Sheehan has seen the completion of a |
13 |
| new police building which the department moved into in April; |
14 |
| other accomplishments during his tenure include successful |
15 |
| community policing efforts in the neighborhood near Gemini |
16 |
| Junior High School, the establishment of the department's bike |
17 |
| patrol unit and K-9 units, and the hiring of additional |
18 |
| officers over the past few years; he credits all of these |
19 |
| accomplishments to team effort; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Police Chief Sheehan's plans for after retirement |
21 |
| include traveling with his wife, Pat; therefore, be it |
22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
23 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
24 |
| congratulate Niles Police Chief Gerald Sheehan on the occasion |
25 |
| of his retirement after 33 years with the department; and be it |
26 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
28 |
| presented to Police Chief Gerald Sheehan as an expression of |
29 |
| our respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing |
30 |
| retirement.
