| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives recognize Jim E. Hudson of Centralia in honor |
4 |
| of his Roast on February 7, 2004; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson was born on April 23, 1926 in |
6 |
| Centralia; he attended several schools in northern Illinois and |
7 |
| moved back to Centralia when he was in the 8th grade; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, He graduated from Centralia High School where he |
9 |
| played on the undefeated 1942 football team and also lettered |
10 |
| in track; and
|
11 |
| WHEREAS, After graduation, he went to the University of |
12 |
| Illinois where he played football; in 1944, he entered the |
13 |
| United States Navy and within a year Japan surrendered and he |
14 |
| returned to U of I in 1947; and
|
15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1949, he came back to Centralia and started in |
16 |
| the insurance business; his friends call him very responsible, |
17 |
| which means when something goes wrong he's responsible; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, He married Shirley Fowler in 1955 and they have |
19 |
| five children, Beth, Melissa, Kim, Mary, and Jimmy; and six |
20 |
| grandchildren; and
|
21 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson loves tennis and the occasional |
22 |
| alcoholic beverage; it seems his health is endangered when you |
23 |
| lend him money, it damages his memory; and |
24 |
| WHEREAS, The Jim E. Hudson Roast will take place at the |
25 |
| Centralia Elks Club on February 7, 2004; therefore, be it |
26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
