SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David E. Daniels of Springfield, who
4passed away on April 24, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, David Daniels was born to Herman and Ida Marie
6Desalle Daniels in Springfield on October 12, 1946; he
7graduated from Lanphier High School; he received his master's
8degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri at
9Rolla; he married Mary Ellen Dodge at St. Patrick's Catholic
10Church in Springfield on April 8, 1967; and
 
11    WHEREAS, David Daniels worked for Hanson Professional
12Services, Inc., where he played a significant role in
13establishing the company as a recognized leader in soil
14mechanics, foundation engineering, and the design of earth and
15rockfill dams, retiring after 36 years of service; and
 
16    WHEREAS, David Daniels was a member of St. Aloysius
17Catholic Church; he volunteered for Habitat for Humanity,
18helping build homes, and donated blood many times over the
19years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, David Daniels enjoyed playing sports with his
21brothers and coached both of his sons in baseball and hockey,

1continuing to coach youth baseball for approximately 20 years;
2he loved reading and traveling and playing golf with his wife
3and family; and
 
4    WHEREAS, David Daniels was preceded in death by his wife
5of 56 years and his parents; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Daniels is survived by his sons, David
7(Michelle) Daniels and Tony Daniels; his daughter, Angela
8(Jeff) Burt; his grandchildren, Alexandra "Lexi" Smith, Amanda
9Daniels, Sara Daniels, and Geno Daniels; his siblings, Richard
10(Sandy) Daniels, Phillip (Katie) Daniels, Armand "Army" (Jan)
11Daniels, and Cheri (Bill) Wiant; and several nieces, nephews,
12and cousins; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15David Daniels and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of David Daniels as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
