SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Bill Springer of Equality, who passed
4away on May 16, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Springer was born to William J. and Nigel
6Bernice (Holt) Springer in Millhein, Pennsylvania on July 17,
71955; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bill Springer worked as a diesel mechanic
9inspector for the Department of the Army; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Springer was a Mason and Shriner and took
11great pride in the work they did; his most notable activity was
12dressing as Santa Claus every year for over 25 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill Springer led a varied and colorful life with
14many hobbies; when he was younger, he was accomplished in
15martial arts; he enjoyed playing pool throughout his life,
16participating in many leagues and tournaments, and he loved
17riding motorcycles; he was fond of a good meal and was an
18accomplished cook with an especially memorable fish soup; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bill Springer was a man of faith and an ordained
20minister; he will be remembered for his huge heart and his

1willingness to help others; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Bill Springer is survived by his wife, Jan; his
3children, Christina Massow, Bigg (Lacey) Springer, Marc
4(Ashley) Matulis, and Erin (Cyle) Murdoch; his grandchildren,
5Chelsea (Jacob) Rash, Aprilia Massow, Quentin Perry, Avery
6Springer, Preston Matulis, Olivia Matulis, and Laken Murdoch;
7his great-grandchild, Braelyn Rash; and his close friend, Jon
8Ward; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Bill Springer and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Bill Springer as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
